Ship Shaper

Build and customize your own jet, then fly it through the city in this 3D shoot'em up!

I was fresh out of ideas for interesting Character Creator games that I could make, until I realized that ship builders are basically character creators with parts.  The jam's creative theme was "Unintended Consequences", which made me think of games like Starlink: The Battle for Atlas where if you add a ton of wings and things to your ship you'll end up with a real clunker, so I decided to make something like that.  As an added bonus, this gave me the opportunity to finally learn how to make games in 3D in Game Maker Studio 2 (if you're wondering how that went--No comment).

Controls

• Mouse to interact with ship builder
  • Select buttons using left click
  • Left click to place parts
  • Right click to remove parts
• Arrow keys to move ship
• Spacebar to fire
• R to abort current flight
• Esc to quit
• (Debug) Ctrl to damage self

Some known issues are listed below.  Feel free to let me know of any more!

• Parts can be removed from any position, regardless of legality.
• Hitboxes are smaller than expected
